PETALING JAYA: "Saving MCA" campaigners have slammed party president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting's appointment of a committee to investigate "spying" claims.

Ong had set up the three-man committee headed by former MCA deputy secretary-general Dr Sak Cheng Lum. The two members are lawyers Roger Tan and Teh Hock Kee.

This has raised the ire of one of the campaign's founding members, Datuk Theng Book, who is also the head of the legal advisors of the MCA Public Services and Complaints Department.

"He said he would be appointing party veterans, then why is he appointing Tan and Teh? I know that they are lawyers, but I doubt that they are even MCA members."

Also present was the Petaling Jaya Utara division adviser Wong Leong, who was the man behind the allegations that snooping squads had been set up in the party about three years ago to uncover the private lives of Ong's political rivals.

The campaigners also launched their blog at http://savingmca.blogspot.com.
